Hope Lodge

Build Hope. Touch Lives.

With more than 127,000 cancer patients traveling to the Greater Houston area each year for treatment, lodging has proved to be one of the most formidable challenges they face. To address this need, the American Cancer Society is conducting a $30 million capital campaign to construct and operate Hope Lodge Houston.

Preliminary Rendering – Subject to Change

BUILD HOPE by helping cancer patients and their families that have to travel away from home for life saving treatment. TOUCH LIVES by giving them over 23,000 nights of lodging at no cost, representing a savings to patients of over $3 million per year. Slated to be the nation’s largest, with 64 patient suites and multiple stories covering more than 68,000 square feet, the Houston Hope Lodge will be open to cancer patients who are receiving treatment and follow up care and reside approximately 40+ miles or two hours from their cancer care providers. The Lodge will be located on Ardmore Street within the expanding Texas Medical Center, on land purchased by the American Cancer Society.

The Society is extremely proud to have President George and Mrs. Barbara Bush as Honorary Co-Chairs, and Robert and Janice McNair as our Campaign Co-Chairs, leading our HOPE LODGE HOUSTON – Build Hope. Touch Lives. campaign.

THE SCHULZE CHALLENGE

In December 2015, Houston’s Hope Lodge received a $10 million one for one matching grant from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation to build and fund operational costs! The Foundation has had a long-standing commitment to cancer causes—specifically the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge program. We must meet this challenge grant on or before December 31, 2017. Our goal is to complete the fundraising portion of the $30 million campaign within the next twelve months, and break ground by fall of 2017.

Whether you are able to give $10 or $10,000, the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation will increase your gift. This provides an incredible opportunity for people to truly make an impact on the lives of cancer patients and their families. So far, the Houston Cattle Barons’ Ball has played an important role in securing over $4 million to benefit the Hope Lodge campaign. We would be honored if you would join VICTORY’S efforts by giving a gift to the campaign and helping us to meet the match early!
